Users have told us that they want the low cost of Personal Computing. They want the features that come from digital evolution. They want to simplify personal computing through regular upgrades. And they want these benefits in a computing cluster that cost less than the traditional PC alternative. In short, these users have created an alternative vision for the PC that we call thin client.

In an effort to drive down the cost, most of the providers have chosen to evolve their system architecture by following the low-cost version of the processor and components used to build cheaper PC.

Janchor took a different approach. We begin with the idea to lower the overall system cost using client-server approach. In a thin client environment, several client machines would be serviced by the server. The server OS can adapt to the software required by the application needs. After all, given the advance on the PC, the vast majority of the computing power on the desktop machine is sitting idle for most of PC users. By using the same PC with idle processing power, the same PC can administer several clients and manage applications from different clients efficiently.

We decided we had to find a way to make “server” PC work. At the same time, making it economical to deploy and operate several client PC using the concept of thin-client.

The server-client deployment is conventional in high-end application because they involve a number of hardware and software components. Janchor is pioneering the technique of thin-client integration. Our solution integrates the components needed to work with key industry software, and we continuously drive integration of additional component and functions to provide transparent switch from PC to thin-client.
